Sim card disaster

Writer's picture: sleepymaysleepymay

Since I'll be in Japan for a year I thought about getting a Japanese simcard. However, I made the wrong choice in choosing a one year contract opposed to buying a prepaid card. What they don't tell you are hidden costs once you decide to go for it and me and my friend chose this deal since it was apparently meant to be "cheaper". So if you don't understand all the complicated things about contracts and simcard bullshit in Japan just go for the easier prepaid option please. It will save you a lot of stress. I've used prepaid ones when I go holiday to Japan and IJIO is the best and it's so easy to use. Don't choose the long term ones like Y Moblie which I am on. There is a cancelling fee usually for these contracts for 9800 yen or something. It's like ptsd for me and my friend whenever we see BIC camera
