After speaking to my new coach in late March I began training there in April because in this case you have to join a coach's team to learn from them. Basically you can either take lessons during normal public skating hours and pay for the rink fee normally or you can do the alternative where you pay for a monthly rink fee and then at some point your coach would give you an envelope with how much you need to pay them.
Your coach gives you a schedule of when you can come to training and since they normally give around 10-15 mins each time you go, it's imperative to go more than once since not only are you paying for a monthly fee you would also learn more since sometimes they do some group teaching too. (This is also probably a much more expensive option riprip mysavings but hey I gotta live a little right? just for 4 months I tell myself haha)
They have A and B groups, B which I am in (level 4 and below). Most of the skaters there are kids but there are some mixed sessions that I have yet to go to and it's already feels intimidating. I will be going this week so maybe I'll update you on that then. Evening session are only an hour long but morning mixed sessions are 1h30. I live in Kyoto so it's actually impossible to make it there on time which is why I will be staying the night in Osaka as the price doesn't differ much if I stay at a cheap hostel or something.
At first I was nervous because I found out that my coach who does co-teach with another coach is actually the same coach who teaches Tomono Kazuki; a Japanese figure skater who is getting much more recognition recently. Being in the same rink under the same coach is very nerve-wracking! Especially when it has been said that he is harsh but after the first week of lessons passed, he seems really nice. He actually asks if I understand what he's saying and finds it amusing not in a bad way when I lowkey fail and almost trip lmao. He seems less strict as rumours say and is much more easygoing. I actually prefer him to my previous coach who I didn't like as much.
Although training is sometimes quite intense in this particular rink with kids who skate really well, it also pushes me to practice more because I'm intimidated af LOLand trying to keep up with everyone.
